Witness to Power has been described by critics as “selectively honest” and “overly romanticized.” It fails to confront the darker truths of ANC leadership. As someone who knows Mathews Phosa personally, I can say with certainty: much of what he writes is fiction dressed as legacy.
💔 THEY TOOK MY FAMILY TOO
My ex-wife is not just a name or a chapter in this story — she is someone I truly and deeply love. Losing her, and the separation from my children, especially my two youngest daughters, is my biggest personal loss of all.
There is not a single day that passes without me thinking of them — of what was stolen, what was manipulated, and the pain of absence. I believe with all my heart that she, too, was used by these corrupt and dangerous figures to weaken me and silence the truth.
As much as I ache, I understand that no one can fix what has already been done. Acceptance is bitter but necessary. The bigger picture calls for strength beyond personal loss — to expose the rot, to make a difference, to be the one who stands up when others stay silent.
I refuse to stand on the sidelines, complaining without action. Complaints without force for change are empty. Even if I must fight this fight alone, I will. I fear nothing. This mission is bigger than any one person.
Yes, there are NPOs and institutions fighting corruption — but their impact has been minimal. I am looking ahead, planning to dedicate myself full-time to politics — my first love, my true life’s work. This is not work for me; this is my purpose.
